it's almost too late for this

but i was at a great show tonight, perhaps one of those that i could use towards indie cred if either of the guys make it big. Levi from the band, Radiant, and Steven Duncan from the band, The Chemistry Set put on a great acoustic show that showcased both their bands' work, a few nice covers and some work that is yet to be recorded.

the venue was mediocre and an 8:30 show on a Tuesday night is a tough sell no matter who you are, so Rosane, her friend and I were the only committed fans from start to finish with the bar crowd and a few friends filling in the gaps to keep things humming.

if there is to be a salvation of music down by Chist-followers or even a return to thoughful rock with a spiritual tone, bands like these are going to be in the middle of it somewhere. while Levi brough Radiant's sincere and heart-stirring style, Steven brought a more ornate guitar style and lyrics that were truly engaging.

perhaps when i have more sleep, i'll have more to share. tonight i just drank in the sounds and enjoyed the time mostly as i knew few of the lyrics well and was focused on some nice guitar playing. i would encourage you to stop by each band's site. it can't quite capture the fun and intimacy of two guys, three acoustics and a small club but there's some good stuff there.

i now know of four really enjoyable local Dallas bands which is a very good thing. in all my time in Chicago and LA i never quite had the opportunity to see so much of the local arts scene. thank you Father and thank you friends for showing it to me.
